The Settlement Experiences of People From Ethiopia in Sydney and Melbourne

This report examines the settlement experiences of ‘refugees' from Ethiopia in
Sydney and Melbourne. The study offers perspectives on the issues confronting every new
migrant and ‘refugee' community, as well as illuminating many issues specific to peoples from
Ethiopia. The report explores the following dimensions of their experiences:
PARTTHREE- Experiences in Countries of First Asylum: The information in this part is limited to providing a glimpse into the lives of peoples during their time in countries of first asylum. The most common countries of first asylum are Sudan, Kenya, Djibouti, Somalia (prior to 1991), and Egypt.
